Why I prefer online school over IRL school Pt. 2
This is the second part to the ‘Why I prefer online school over IRL school’ series, and it’s probably going to be the last.
Last post I gave two reasons why online school is better than IRL school, but this time I’ll give some reasons in favour of IRL school, then talk about them.
I also want to re-state that I am fine with both types of schools, and like both types. I just prefer the online school, since it’s easier for me (not learning wise, but it’s easier in other aspects, which I talk about in the last post).
Statement 1: Students focus more in IRL school
Students would focus more in IRL school, since they don’t have as many distractions, and can’t get away with not listening as easy as you can in online school. In online school, you can just switch to youtube during class, or chat with your friends, without the teacher noticing. In IRL school, teachers notice almost everything that students do. You can’t pull out your phone and start watching youtube videos. But, I think that if the schools make learning interesting, students would listen to class more. And, the teachers do spot a lot of people in class who aren’t paying attention in online classes (speaking from experience).
Statement 2: Tech and Wi-fi cost a lot of money
Having to get a web cam, a mic of some sort, a device to join meetings in, and a good wi-fi connection costs money. A lot of people have never needed them before, so a lot of people don’t have them. Going to IRL school won’t require all those things. But, you also get access to a lot of resources through technology. In real life, to get new information, you would need to either ask experts, or get a book. You don’t necessarily need to buy the books, but you would still probably need a library card, which costs money. With technology, you have all of this information at your finger-tips. And besides having access to so much knowledge, technology allows people to get news live, to connect with their friends, and much more. Also, another point to counter the statement that technology costs a lot of money, is that schools have computers that students can use. A lot of schools have chromebooks that students use, and they could lend these over to the students. Some of my friends are in schools that already lend the chromebooks over to students temporarily, while the students get a computer. Once you have technology, you can also use it for much more than just school. You can start learning skills that could help you in later life.
I might make more of these to state more points and statements, since both sides have a lot of good points, but probably not. I just prefer online school. It’s easier to use for me, when compared with IRL school. Other people may have different opinions, depending on what they find easier. I am just giving out my opinions here, and I’m not saying that online school is the best, and IRL school is the worst, it’s just that I think online school is better. I am fine with either.
Anyway, thank you for reading this post. I probably rambled on at some points, so sorry for that.
